Intimate Moments with Julie

"For me, being in touch with my sexuality manifests as a feeling of ‘aliveness’."
By Julie

I grew up in Germany and the United Kingdom with a brother and a sister.

I first learnt about sex in popular culture. Some of this came from European cinema and films about relationships and rites of passage. I also remember listening to music, making sense of lyrics that discussed sex, as well as reading magazines covering sex.

We had sex education at school in Germany, and my parents had some input too. Many European countries are relatively open about sexuality. For example, nudity is much more acceptable and normalised in German culture than in Australia.

I feel most connected to my sexuality when I’m well. Physical and mental health and well-being are pretty important factors that can influence sex. For me, being in touch with my sexuality manifests as a feeling of ‘aliveness’.

The greatest lesson I’ve learnt about sex is to stay curious and trust yourself and your instincts.
