Sup sup, my name is Blu Jay. I’m Native American/Dutch Indo-Malay. I was born in the United States, raised on Tarntanya Wama Land (Adelaide) and now reside in Narrm (Melbourne). I’m an artist, mainly working with Drag Performance, dance, movement, and Illustration.

My first love was drawing, an intimate and introspective pastime that opened doors to physical performance. It taught me to slow down and be focused on the present moment. Sometimes erotic in nature, my art has a heavy focus on liberation.

I first learnt about sex through unorthodox familial dysfunctions. Growing up, I had a very disciplinary father, I found it suffocating. An ideology I want to take forward is to never feel restrained agai

I only really started finding myself in my late teens. My sexuality has fluctuated in many ways over the various periods of my life, a lot of it being exploration and questioning and some through survival and necessity. We live once, and I want to experience the world at its full velocity.

I feel most connected to my sexuality when I am creating art, my sexuality is an inherent running theme. Sensuality, emotion and vulnerability are core throughlines for my work and continue to support my connection to my sense of self and others. 

The greatest lesson I've learnt about sex is to ALWAYS ask for consent and to remain open to the unknown.
